Official Response to Las Vegas Shooting
Phoenix, Arizona: October 2, 2017 Arizona Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate Deedra Abboud released the following statement in response to the mass shooting that took in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, October 1:
“Few things are more American than enjoying a concert with your loved ones and attacking such an event strikes at the heart of our nation’s soul. When music is usurped by the ricochet of bullets, when singing is replaced with screams, when dancing gives way to running, this is terrorism.
But even amidst the chaos, it was heroism that carried the day. Off-duty police officers shepherded concert-goers to safety, doctors and nurses refused to leave the side of victims even when it put their own lives at risk and civilians raced the injured to hospitals in their own cars and trucks.
This is the ironic foolishness of terrorism: every act meant to divide us ultimately underscores our strength and unity.
In the coming days and weeks, we will need answers and Las Vegas will need our thoughts and prayers. But at this moment we must focus on how we can help our neighbors.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed in the face of such a tragedy, but Las Vegas Mayor Caroyln Goodman has called for blood donations, a tangible way you can make a difference today right here in Arizona. Clark County Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak has launched an official GoFundMe page to assist victims and their families.”
